Help us reach a $10,000 match this MaCCNOvember

We’re celebrating 13 years since our first ever meeting, and an anonymous Mid-City resident has generously donated $10,000 to us—but they are challenging us to match it, and we need your help!

In increasingly challenging circumstances, your donation will help us continue our work to protect and elevate New Orleans culture and cultural creators. This includes:

Protecting the Rights of Street Musicians and Performers

Increased levels of law enforcement unfamiliar with New Orleans and massive road construction projects in the French Quarter have put the squeeze on street musicians. Now, with the possible arrival of the National Guard, we are gearing up to make sure musicians and other performers don’t get pushed out.

Makin’ Gardens

Formally launching by the end of the year, this project—led by local musician and culture bearer Arsène DeLay—focuses on food security and cultural memory. Centering around a free training series teaching the basics of backyard gardening, the program is also connecting with elders and working to identify and re-invigorate existing community gardens in food deserts to provide healthy food options and protect neighborhood tradition.

Creating Access to Opportunity for the Cultural Community

We combine grant writing and technical assistance, fiscal sponsorship, and cultural advocacy services to help launch and support grassroots cultural projects. Since we started this program in 2024, we have assisted the inaugural BlackAmericana Fest, the Original Creole Wild West Black Masking Indians, the Le Bon Ton Baby Dolls, the Free Agents Brass Band, the Giant Puppet Festival, and many others.

Please make a gift and help us reach our $10,000 match so we can continue to serve the community and support the culture!
