The Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans collaborates with, organizes, and builds the civic capacity of the New Orleans music and cultural community to preserve and nurture the city’s culture, to translate community vision into policy, and to create a more just and equitable city and region.
Your donation to MaCCNO will directly assist the people and places that create New Orleans' music, art, and culture through:
Direct Assistance: Programs like Makin' Groceries, which provides curated, culturally appropriate grocery deliveries to elders in the cultural community; or our ongoing support for street performers, ensuring their rights are protected as they carry on a long standing New Orleans tradition.
Grassroots Economic Development: We've developed a series of programs like our "Mobile University" and "Band Leader Boot Camp", which work with creatives in neighborhood spaces to provide access to opportunity--from help managing a gig schedule to applying for grants and finding a fiscal sponsor.
Advocacy and Policy Change: We continue to push for laws and policies that support the cultural community, from changes in zoning laws that create more spaces for live music to a $200/hr minimum wage for musicians at city funded events.
